PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Design, 3D-modelling, development and testing as part of the 40mm development team. Required to work closely with engineers, project managers, service functions and operators to ensure that project technical requirements are met within the budgeted cost and time scales.
REPORTING TO: Project Manager: 40mm Ammunition

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• 3D modeling and creation of working drawings.
• Provide design support to the technical team in the development process.
• Establish related manufacturing processes.
• Design and develop related assembly tooling.
• Design and develop associated test equipment.
• Develop and establish assembly procedures for mechanical components.
• Participate in testing of 40mm ammunition.
• Preparation of manufacturing data packs.
• Acquisition of components in-house or from subcontractors.
• Assist in assembly and integration of 40mm rounds.
• Task planning and task management.

POST REQUIREMENTS:

• B-Tech (Mechanical Engineering) or relevant NQF 6 technical qualification.
• At least 5 years’ experience in 3D modeling and drafting in a formal configuration controlled environment.
• Knowledge / Experience of CAD systems operating in a PLM environment will be an advantage.
• Able to work independently or interactively as a member of a team.
• Good communication skills (verbal, written & interpersonal).
• Experience in an armaments or other high tech. industry will be an advantage.
• Experience of Explosives / explosives items will be an advantage.
• Self-motivated with creative and innovative mind.
