Description: A company selling analytical laboratory equipment requires an experienced technical person to provide both pre and post sales technical support for the company’s chemical analysis products with emphasis on GC, GC/MS, HPLC, LC/MS, ICP/MS and chromatography data systems. Key duties are as follows: hardware support including the repair and maintenance of GC, GC/MS, HPLC, LC/MS, ICP/MS Systems and chromatography data systems; installation, configuration and commissioning of software product; compliance services, performance verification and calibration; provide operator familiarization training on the hardware and software during installation and commissioning; continuous self-education with all technical tools available from the suppliers; have working knowledge of the company’s support administration procedures and systems, contracts system, inventory system tools; responsibility for service kits and other inventory and capital equipment allocated; provide hardware and software support to sales personnel; support the company’s sales and marketing efforts and be a key member of the technical team; propagate the company’s business interests in all dealings with customers. The chromatography service engineer will report to the support manager.
Key Requirements: ND/BTech/BSc in chemistry, biochemistry or other relevant field. At least 3 years’ experience in analytical instrumentation i.e. GC, GC/MS, HPLC, LC/MS, ICP/MS is required. Computer literate. Valid driver’s licence and prepared to travel in Southern and East Africa.
Additional Requirements: Great communication skills, a positive attitude, the ability to work under pressure and ability to multi-task is essential. The ability to be self-motivated and work independently with a team structure with common goals is recommended. Previous experience in the support of analytical instrumentation, chemistry, chromatography and practical electronics as well as experience with chromatography and laboratory data systems is recommended.
Remuneration: Salary is negotiable but will be competitive depending on expertise, qualifications and experience.
