The Civil 3D Modeller performs a variety of design/drafting activities group including preparing/updating installation drawings for projects, establishing guidelines and procedures for CAD data management, and managing workload distribution within the drawings office. The incumbent must be familiar with roads, drainage and earthworks within the civil engineering environment and be able to interpret detail design work under the guidance of the Engineer or technologist.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist with the development of Autodesk AutoCAD Civil3D as a design tool in the infrastructure & structural engineering environment
• Work with a team of engineers on multidisciplinary engineering projects
• Provide technical assistance and support for delivery of engineering services;
• Support design work, assist with preparation of tender documentation;
• Key Client interface: liaise with (mainly internal) clients and other professionals
• Provide a leadership role to the junior CAD operators and modellers within the discipline
• Assume responsibility for quality control of final drawings and models of the CAD team

REQUIREMENTS:

• National Diploma / B Tech in Civil Engineering
• Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a consulting engineering environment
• Microsoft office package
• Highly proficient in Excel
• Proficient in the use of Autodesk, AutoCAD, Civil3D
• Experience in AutoCAD, BIM, Revit and related drafting and design software would be beneficial
• At least 5 years’ experience on SANRAL projects
