CIVIL SPECIALIST/QUANTITY SURVEYOR (3 YEAR FIXED TERM PROJECT

Construction of Lift 2 project involves installation of various mining equipment to support the mining methods. The actual construction will however, be outsourced to contractors. The purpose of this role is to coordinate the activities of these contractors to ensure the project is delivered safely and timely. Responsibilities will include:
• Developing and rolling out daily work plans that are consistent with work schedules and project priorities
• Liaising with design consultant to make input and review designs
• Liaising closely with the planner and scheduler to review progress and to ensure that target dates are met and if not, appropriate measures are instituted to ensure the expected targets are accomplished
• Liaising with key stakeholders such as production personnel to ensure minimal interruption to planned activities
• Managing the completion of all relevant project related activities
• Providing technical support, guidance and supervision to contractors and monitor the quality of workmanship and performance against plans
• Communicate regularly with key stakeholders such as production personnel so as to source appropriate support as per requirement
• Planning daily tasks, organizing and leading a survey team.
• Quality installation of control pegs, line pegs and grade pegs in an underground block cave, and underground development mine.
• Compiling of survey notes, layouts and sections.
• Actively participate in maintaining SHEQ standards.
• Staking and surveying of exploration boreholes and setting out engineering structures.
• Freeboard surveys, stability monitoring and monitoring systems.

• Skilled in operating a total station and optimizing on its capabilities.
• Skilled in operating GPS and understanding GPS principles.
• Excellent MS office computer skills and knowledge of relevant CAD survey software.

Qualifications & experience
• N4 certificate Engineering
• Qualified artisan and Project Management
• Driver’s License
• SAP
• Minimum of five years’ experience Civil Construction Environment
• Three years’ experience in leadership role
• Knowledge of underground operations essential
• Proven leadership experience essential
