Job title: Clinical pharmacist

Reports to: Pharmacy Manager

Location: Mossel Bay

Job Purpose: The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the clinical pharmacy services within the hospital by ensuring that the quality standards, financial objectives, legislative compliance and clinical criteria are achieved to the required standards

Qualification & Experience:
• MSc (Med)/ Pharm Degree essential
• 3-5 years practical clinical experience in the critical outputs
• Current registration with South African Pharmacy Council as a Pharmacy
• Understanding of pharmacy and related healthcare industry, legislation, regulations and challenges
• Pharmaceutical product knowledge
• Computer proficiency would be an advantage


Duties and Responsibility
• Effective medication safety management
• Participate in incident investigation in the hospital to identify root causes and corrective action
• Implement all quality initiatives as identified
• Review all ICU prescriptions and monitor all ICU patients to ensure effective and safe drug therapy and provide feedback and advice to healthcare team regarding potential problems
• Report management with regards to Anti-microbial
• Comply with legal, professionals and procedural requirements pertaining to dispensing of prescriptions
• Effective quality management systems
• Implement and sustain components of antimicrobial stewardship programme as identified
• Implement customer satisfaction and pharmacy quality initiatives
• Effective financial management pertaining to portfolio
• Participate in the active management of cost of sales of pharmaceuticals in line with revenue and budget
• Effective people management
• Provide direction and inspire positive work behaviour in the team
