Job Purpose: Responsible for high value cargo pick-up and delivery services in order to ensure that the Cargo Protection department reach their goals.

Minimum requirements:
Grade 10.
Valid code C (Code 10) driver’s license and PDP.
Minimum 5 (five) proven years working experience as a truck driver.
No recent driving violations or criminal record.

Duties and responsibilities:
1. Transport:
• Transport high value cargos over land to and from clients as required.
• Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions without causing damage to the truck, loading bay or ramp in any way.
• Ensure that cargo is secured properly and safely as per company requirements and standards.

2. Inspections:
• Do pre-trip inspections on truck for mechanical faults and safety issues before every trip.
• Report all defects, accidents and violations to the appropriate individuals in a timely manner.

3. Time management:
• Plan and chart routes in an effective and efficient manner to save time.
• Ensure that delivery schedules are met at all times.
• Report any delays and/ or route deviations.

4. Administration and general:
• Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures.
• Collect and verify delivery instructions from the appropriate individuals.
• Ensure that preventative maintenance is done and that the exterior and interior of the truck is clean and tidy at all times.
• Ensure that ongoing contact and feedback with the appropriate individuals is maintained at all time.
• Maintain all log books daily.
• Provide the Key Account Administrator Cargo Protection with the signed POD for each delivery and specify if 2 deliveries were made for one POD.
