Our client a leader in the engineering sector is looking to engage the services of a Commercial Manager to be based in Malaysia. The position requires the incumbent to manage the procurement and financial activities in the Malaysian Office

KEY AREAS
• Strategic sourcing
• Quotations for internal clients
• Support to Production, Engineering and Programmes
• Project meetings with Procurement personnel
• Draw up plans of execution for each project
• Determine manufacturability of newly designed components consulting with Procurement personnel
• Planning of the procurement task as per system demand and according to the Procurement procedures – task description and company delegations.
• Obtaining and evaluating of competitive quotations
• Procurement of items and/ or services according to the Procurement procedures – task description and company delegations
• Timeous negotiation, placement and management of contracts and orders
• Supplier selection, evaluation and development.
• Engineering change inputs and implementation
• General office management and administration
• Personnel support and development, Integration of functions
• Inventory management
• Financial governance in relation to the project
• Advice on structuring of ancillary contracts, e.g. suppliers etc. together with support from company - Legal
• Advice on project expenses e.g. capital purchase
• Management of LC issued for the project
• Maintain and monitor sound financial practices
• In adherence to all company policies, procedures and house rules
• Manage bank account and cash book

KEY SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
• Excellent negotiating and communication skills as well as written and spoken English.
• Knowledge of an Asian language e.g. Bahasa Melayu or Mandarin would be an advantage, but not essential.
• Ability to strategize, develop documentation around supply chain strategy and interventions
• Good manufacturing and technical knowledge and skills
• Excellent MRP knowledge: MRPII, configuration management, material management.
• Proven contract execution skills
• Computer skills
• Specific financial knowledge
• Cost estimating experience
• Experience in Procurement and /or finance
• Commercial Degree or equivalent
• Degree in Commerce, Management, Business similar qualifications and/ or experience
• Post graduate qualifications will be an advantage
• Project management course and experience
• Valid driver’s license (code EB)
• Ability to relocate and travel extensively
