Our client in the Boland area is in need of a Commercial Manager. 

The successful candidate will act as the right hand to the CEO and will be involved in the proactive management and growth of this business together with a skilled team of production engineers.

Candidates for this position must be self motivated, innovative, proactive and able to work in a fast paced environment.

He/she must be able to overlap seamlessly between the manufacturing and financial management side of the business. Candidates must have solid values and be team players that can grow and develop with the aggressive growth strategy. There will be excellent long term career growth potential for the right candidate.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

B Com in Cost and Management accounting (CIMA qualified). 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

4 - 8 years experience in a similar role in processing (manufacturing & Agri-processing) environment.

Strong ability to create and maintain a PASTEL & ACCESS management system in manufacturing environment, essential.

Excellent proactive business management skills.

Export and foreign currency management experience.

Team player with good interpersonal relations and leadership skills.

Exposure to procurement in the agricultural sector will be added bonus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Accounting and Administration

Management of accounting and administration personnel of 5.

Implementation and control of internal systems and procedures.

Compilation, update and control of company asset register.

Responsible for credit control.

Responsible for the preparation of accurate and timeous monthly management reports.

Compiling audit file and assisting auditors with the annual audit.

Communicate with SARS in regards to tax matters

2. IT and Information Systems

Implementation and management of company IT infrastructure and information systems.

Management and support of intranet users.

IT infrastructure planning and implementation.

3. Cost and Management Accounting

Responsible for costing of all products manufactured.

Measurement of production efficiencies. KPI's for supervisors and divisional managers.

Valuation of month end stock.

Daily, weekly and monthly stock control.

Calculate and management of overhead recovery rates on Pastel.

Management & reporting of product profitability.

Implementation and management of production planning system.

Responsible for daily, weekly and monthly production reporting. 

Responsible for feasibility studies on new products and projects.

Minimum stock levels and re-ordering schedule based on orders received/forecasted.

4. Statutory Duties

Submission of labour returns and training grants SDL claims.

Responsible for drafting of agreements with suppliers and clients in association with the CEO.

Get a suitable Product Liability insurance strategy and policy in place.

Support CEO in the management of the company strategy.

Member of company exco.

5. Human Resources

Responsible for the weekly & monthly payroll on VIP.

Support other departments with disciplinary issues.

Implementation and management of performance appraisal system.

Updating of company HR policy.

Implementation and management of KPI based bonus/incentive scheme.

Annual review of company salary & wages to be approved by remuneration committee .

Generating information for head of production to manage staff compliment and over time cost.

6. Funding, Forex and Banking

Assist Commercial director where necessary

Research and Implement a cashless payment system for all workers.

7. Procurement

Management of procurement personnel.

Formulate and implementation of performance management system for buyers.

Compile and implement a company procurement policy.

Negotiate volume and price contracts with suppliers based on production requirement of the company and base costing and sales prices.

Management of minimum & maximum order quantities on Pastel.

Management of procurement price variances on Pastel.

8. Farm and Nursery

Responsible for the management of farm and nursery staff.

Compile and implement a business strategy for the farm & nursery.

Responsible for administration and finance function on the farm.
