Minimum Requirements
Qualification Requirements:
BSc. Engineering (Civil) or Quantity Surveying degree;
A Master’s degree or post-graduate diploma in a related field would be an advantage.
Experience:
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a construction organization in a senior risk, commercial and/or legal role;
A minimum of 15 years overall construction industry experience;
Experience with FIDIC, GCC and NEC forms of contract;
Experience in arbitration, adjudication and other forms of dispute resolution.
Skills:
Excellent knowledge of legal and commercial concepts with respect to the contracting environment;
Excellent negotiation, litigation and dispute resolution skills;
Engineering experience in civil construction will be an added advantage
Ability to provide advice (orally and in writing) and influence decision making;
Strong interpersonal skills;
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Job Specification
Key Responsibilities:
Successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to):
Oversee the drafting of contracts and devise the terms and provisions of contracts;
Sign off on commercial and legal terms and conditions of projects within the division;
Support, and lead if necessary, the successful resolution of material commercial negotiations, claims and disputes;
Ensure that commercial and contractual entitlements are dealt with promptly and in accordance with the conditions of contract;
Develop and implement commercial strategies according to the division’s goals and objectives;
Take responsibility for the commercial and risk management function within the division;
Provide commercial advice, guidance and support to sites from award to final account stage;
Assist in setting financial targets, and budget development and monitoring.
