Communications Manager

Location: Sandton, JHB

Purpose of the Role:
To conceptualise, co-ordinate and execute the internal and external communications strategy.

Requirements
A degree in journalism, media, communications or other relevant field
Minimum of 3 years communications experience
Articulate and confident oral and written communication skills
Knowledge and experience in working effectively across a range of media platforms
Computer literacy
Driver’s licence
Willingness to travel in SA

Responsibilities and duties:
Lead the development and implementation of the communication strategy
Provide communication guidance to relevant staff
Develop and execute the media strategy across all media, including press, broadcast
and publications to raise company profile and market company’s activities
Media liaison – writing, distributing and managing media releases
Manage the monitoring of media exposure
Maintain data-base of media stakeholder groups
Produce and/or oversee the production of publications, including Annual
Report, bi-annual News Letter, etc.
Develop and oversee internal communication
Take responsibility for the development and maintenance of website that includes keeping content up to date and appropriate, making improvements to functionality and advising colleagues on maximising its potential
Implement, manage and expand a social media strategy
Lead the development and monitoring of brand guidelines
Lead the collation of activities and personal stories or case studies
Develop publicity materials or communication materials targeted at specific audiences
Work with the Fundraising Manager to ensure that marketing and communications functions are linked and complementary to Fundraising efforts
Carry out general communications and marketing functions that may arise, e.g. expo’s
Develop and co-ordinate the production of all audio visual material
Develop and maintain manuals/guidelines
Events Management
Arrange or assist with special events such as Award Ceremonies, fundraising events
Ensuring that key stakeholders are invited and attend special events
