A a community development organisation inspired seeks a Communications Officer to assist in facilitating its internal and external communications. This position is based in the Braamfontein office of the organization, reporting to the CEO.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Communications Officer will:

? Develop and execute a media strategy to increase media coverage to promote the organization and its programs to diverse audiences;

? Implement a complimentary public relations strategy to increase awareness of the organization's work;

? Develop and maintain contacts with media and various other target audiences;

? Identify appropriate media opportunities, preparing media releases and organizing press briefings;

? Manage the online presence of the Foundation, ensuring regular updates and monitoring public response;

? Maintain the online contact database;

? Provide written content and editorial input for the organization’s publications as needed to support the work of the fundraising unit, research department and other units;

? Coordinate design and print production processes for publications;

? Give presentations on the organization's work if required;

? Respond to general inquiries about the organization;

? Attend meetings on behalf of communications as duly and reasonably instructed by superiors.


SKILLS QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Candidates should:

? Have a bachelors degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 5 years of experience
(candidates without educational qualifications, but with additional experience will be considered)

? Have a high level of computer literacy with experience and proficiency in website maintenance, online marketing and social media;

? Be able to communicate well in written and spoken English;

? Be a team player with the ability to take initiative and work independently;

? Be open, flexible, quick and with excellent organisational skills; and

? Have a demonstrable commitment to the organization, its vision, values and its approach

? Graphic design experience is a plus.
