Compuscan, a registered credit bureau that is based in Stellenbosch,
has a position available for Compliance and Risk Officer.

In this position the candidate would need to assume responsibility for identification, assessment, monitoring and reporting of compliance and establishing systems and processes to ensure compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements impacting on the group's operations. The requirement is for Compliance and Risk Officer to play a key role in establishing a formal compliance function for the Compuscan Group.

Key Requirements:
• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a compliance officer, preferably in the financial services industry
• Preferably have a degree in Law and be a qualified compliance officer
• Experience in identifying, creating, establishing and maintaining a regulatory universe, implementing of risk management plans, creating a monitoring program, drafting of policies, implementing and performing compliance training is a necessity.
• Experience in regulatory risk (compliance) and/or operational risk management and monitoring and/or business process auditing activities; and
• Experience with:
o CPA
o POPI
o NCA
o OSHA
o BCEA
o Companies Act and company secretarial governance
o King Codes
• Member of CISA will be an advantage

Key Performance Areas:
• Identifying, establishing and maintaining the regulatory universe, assist with the drafting of risk management plans and assist business with the implementation of such plans;
• To take primary responsibility for design of and implementing of systems and controls to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations impacting on the group;
• To develop action plans to respond to regulatory changes and to address shortfalls in compliance;
• To advise and assist staff and clients proactively in developing products, systems and responses to legislation and regulation;
• To liaise with executive management and shareholders (via the Audit and Risk Committee) with regards to compliance and sustainability;
• To monitor and report on regulatory risks involving group companies
• Monitor and report on Compliance risk management losses incurred and record same in incident register
• Implement a monitoring programme for the firm and this entails all aspects of monitoring activities;
• Drafting of compliance policies and creating training for such policies
• Formulating and implementing compliance and monitoring plans
• Performing of legal research on legislation impacting the business of the Company.
• Analysing legislation and drafting of training material;
• Ensuring effective implementation by business of legislation;
• Assisting and guiding business with the implementation of controls to mitigate and manage identified risks;
• Assisting the Head of the department with signing off on compliance reports to the regulators and industry bodies;
• Keeping abreast of new legislation impacting the firm and also highlighting this to business by writing articles;
• Assist the Head of the department with drafting of compliance reports to management and governance structures within the entire Group;
• Assist the head of the department with implementing governance structures for various legal entities within the firm
• Ensuring the effective implementation of the Group Governance & Compliance frameworks
• Draft Compliance Risk Control Assessments for all legislation on the Regulatory Universe
• Monitoring and analysing changes in the regulatory framework and maintaining the Regulatory Universe for the business
• Drafting Regulatory Report
• Conduct legal and impact analysis of new legislation
• Designing, documenting and implementing compliance processes, procedures and manuals and compliance risk management plans
• Roll-out compliance policies to the business
• Providing specialist compliance advice and guidance to the business
• Drafting Compliance Training Plans
• Compiling compliance-related training material
• Drafting compliance communications and creating awareness on matters pertaining to compliance
• Conduct formal compliance reviews (ad hoc monitoring)
• Identifying and reporting of compliance risks, breaches and incidents within area of responsibility
• Formulating and implementing compliance and monitoring plans
• Preparing various ad hoc compliance reports
