REQUIREMENTS:
?An LLB or B.Com Law degree with a postgraduate diploma in Corporate/ Company Law coupled with six (6) to ten (10) years experience working in an SOE Oversight or equivalent environment with a minimum of four (4) years experience in management PLUS the following key competencies: Knowledge:
?Legislative and policy prescripts relevant to the Company and its State Owned Entities (SOEs)
?Corporate Governance as it applies to both the Public and Private sectors as well as Company Law, the Public Finance Management Act, 1999 (Act 1 of 1999) (PFMA) and other related legal and administrative prescripts
?Government planning processes
?Demonstrable experience in dealing with matters of Corporate Governance and analysis as well as the interpretation of local and international legal matters.
Skills:
?Must have a strong legal background, with an understanding of project management, strategic planning and risk management
?Stakeholder management and problem solving
?Ability to conduct legal research as well as write legal opinions. Communication:
?Well- developed interpersonal relations skills
?Proven negotiation skills and developed co-ordination skills.

DUTIES:
?Ensure appropriate and timeous reporting to the shareholder on Department Boards
?Serve as a liaison between the shareholder, the Department and its SOEs on legal and governance matters
?Manage/Oversee the monitoring and reporting of State Owned Entities/Companies (SOE/Cs) pertaining to legal and governance requirements ?Review founding legislation for SOE/Cs reporting to the Minister and provide improvement recommendations, where applicable
?Provide the Minister with specialist advice/opinions on all legal business matters, changing legislation and regulations as well as compliance requirements
?Handle all litigation matters and prepare contractual documents related to the activities of SOEs
?Develop and maintain communication channels that will ensure all changes to relevant legislation and policies are considered timeously, as well as receive and disseminate legal information between the Department and its SOEs
?Provide legal support and advice to ensure that SOEs comply with all applicable and relevant local and international legal prescripts.
