My Client , a leading Multimanager within the Financial Markets environment is looking to appoint a Compliance Officer at their Johannesburg head offices.

THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE ARE ESSENTIAL
• Legal or accounting degree or accreditation with the Compliance Institute is essential to meet FSB approval requirements in terms of FAIS
• Post graduate LLB preferably.
• Certificate in Compliance Management highly recommended
• Qualification in financial planning or accreditation as a Certified Financial Planner
• A minimum of 2 – 3 three years financial services industry related experience (e.g. life insurance, investments and retirement funds) is essential to meet FSB approval requirements in terms of FAIS.
• Experience in a compliance role is essential.
• In-depth working knowledge of financial services legislation is essential, especially FAIS, FICA, Collective Investment Schemes Control Act, Long Term Insurance Act and the Pension Funds Act.

ALTHOUGH NOT LIMITED TO, THE INCUMBENT’S MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
• Drafting of Investment Management Agreements for the Asset Management division of the
Group;
• Drafting of and advising on Investment Mandates in respect of Investment Management
Agreements;
• Ensuring compliance of Investment Management Agreements with Financial Advisory and
Intermediary Services Act 2002;
• Drafting rule templates for investment limits - Regulation 30 of the Medical Schemes Act 131 of
1998;
• Negotiating and drafting of Side-Letters to facilitate the dealings of derivative products between
parties through Yield-X;
• Setting up Terms of Business in respect of establishing new business relationships;
• Reviewing, vetting and providing comments to trading agreements;
• Sitting on Compliance Committee;
• Sitting in on the Credit Risk Forum Committee monthly meetings;
• Drafting SAFEX/Yield-X Member Client Agreements and SAFEX/Yield-X Tripartite Agreements;
• Attending to client registrations with Yield-X;
• Reviewing of Short and Long Form ISDA Confirmations and advising the business on areas of risk
when finalizing such confirmations;
