Location: Woodstock, Cape Town

Qualifications & Requirements:
Qualified B.Com LLB Degree
Admitted Attorney
Must have averaged 75% or more academically.
Has completed articles with a large reputable law firm.
1-3 years post articles experience specializing in financial services law.
Experience in commercial, contract financial services law, property and tax.
Must have knowledge of corporate governance and global best practice, trends within regulatory, compliance and governance framework.
Background in financial services regulation / law with knowledge of the South African and Global regulatory landscape including risk management would be beneficial
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be detail oriented and pro-active.
Must be dynamic and enthusiastic.
Must be a team player, extremely motivated, resourceful, organized, communicative and be able to complete tasks independently with strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities:
Act under the supervision of the Head: Compliance in the implementation of compliance review programs
Ensure compliance across a broad spectrum of regulatory requirements including Pension Funds, Collective Investments, REIT’s, Insurance, and FAIS Category I, II, and III regulated services
Ensure detailed policies, procedures, systems and controls are implemented
Implement the compliance risk matrix across 9 regulated companies plus regulated entities in global jurisdictions and perform detailed compliance reviews on risk areas
Implement risk management under instruction of Head: Compliance
Perform regulatory, business process, and systems compliance reviews in accordance with compliance monitor
Produce regulatory compliance reports externally and to management
Update compliance policies where necessary
Monitor compliance through periodic and regular reviews
Draft legal agreements to ensure that the statutory compliance requirements are met and risks have been mitigated
Apply compliance process across multiple jurisdictions showing an understanding of different compliance requirements
Maintain registers and detailed regulatory and compliance monitors and ensure these are strictly implemented and adhered to
Remain abreast of all changes in the regulatory environment in South Africa and internationally
Provide technical input on proposed changes to legislation and compliance requirements
