A large financial services company’s Group Finance department seeks an experienced Compliance Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement and maintain a technologically enabled compliance management system
• Provide inputs into the compliance strategy and plan
• Provide recommendations into formally approved policies which are required to give effect to the compliance strategy and plan
• Provide inputs into a documented regulatory universe that incorporates all relevant legislation, regulation, international standards and obligations and internal policies
• Provide inputs into documented compliance risk management plans (CRMPs) which incorporate the key requirements of specific core legal and regulatory obligations and the process to manage compliance thereto
• Advise and guide businesses regarding application and impact of legal and regulatory obligations
• Assist with the facilitation of confidential reporting by employees of concerns, shortcomings or potential violations of policies, legal or regulatory obligations or ethical considerations
• Reports to the Group Compliance Officer and the Head: Life Compliance on
o Any compliance incidents identified within any business of the group and the recommendations to address the compliance incident
o An assessment of the adequacy and effectiveness of the compliance management system and the compliance functions within the group

Key Requirements:

• Relevant Degree in Law or Commerce
• 5 years relevant compliance related experience
• Knowledge of legislation, regulations and legal principles applicable to the financial services industry.
• Knowledge of compliance risk management methodology, including compliance risk management principles and standards within South Africa and internationally.
• Understanding and knowledge of the financial services industry.
