The position of Channel Activation Manager has arisen within our Consumer Business Unit, based at Krugersdorp. This position will report to the Head: Consumer Business Unit. Preference will be granted to Employment Equity candidates.
Purpose
To assess and develop channel activation strategies and opportunities and specific offerings while supporting Sales and Marketing initiatives to increase distribution within the Consumer Markets in Pan Africa N.B. Africa exposure is non negotiable as is travel in Africa. Exposure within retail - hardware/paint is required.
Key Performance Areas
Formulates and executes consumer sales and promotional strategies in collaboration with the Head of CoE Channel Marketing
Develops, executes, tracks and adjusts consumer specific business plans designed to achieve business objectives
Leads customer-focused projects and partners across regions to execute strategic and tactical selling solutions based on marketplace knowledge and consumer trends
Maintains strong market place and consumer understanding and applies this knowledge to capitalize on customer opportunities
Cultivate strong customer relationships and influence key stakeholders to drive mutually beneficial business opportunities and to understand short and long-term customer needs
Identify and grow appropriate channel distribution within Southern Africa, East Africa and West Africa to achieve market share and growth
Proactively provide insight-driven innovative solutions which meet customer needs and drive innovative growth
Leads and continuously improves innovative merchandising and promotional programs which drive incremental volume, profit, and distribution
Collaborate with Marketing and Route to Market to drive the development of custom products, packaging, displays, promotions, and launch of new product introductions to meet customer needs
Lead and support the team members on the work and efforts of a Cross Functional Team by providing coaching and honest conversations when appropriate
INTERNAL VACANCY
Identify competency gaps of team members and ensure developmental programmes are implemented
Skill, Knowledge and Experience Requirements
Minimum of 8-10 years previous experience in Account Management or Category Management
Strong Account Management and relationship building skills
Strong people management skills and ability to manage and persuade at all levels in the organisation
Demonstrates exceptional communication, interpersonal skills and consistently high energy levels
Must have the ability to drive and deliver business performance and success through people
Be client and customer focused, accustomed to working within a matrix reporting organization
Ability to align activities and interventions to the business needs and requirements
Thorough understanding of distribution and consumer insights
Readiness to travel throughout African continent
