Contracts Administrator – Underground (2 year fixed term)

Job Content
Support the Manager Procurement & Contracts in administration of the EPCM, mining and other contracts. Evaluate and advise on contractor claims escalated to the Project by the EPCM.
Assist the Project Management team in resolving emerging contractual issues on other major contracts managed directly by the Company

Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

• Review the EPCM monthly invoices for accuracy and compliance with contract terms;
• Monitor the EPCM’s procurement and contract performance against agreed parameters and milestones;
• Review EPCM recommendations to award and advise on their adequacy and acceptability;
• Review escalated contractor claims and advise on their resolution;
• Review EPCM tender and contract packages prior to release and execution to ensure they conform to Project standards and expectations;
• Ensure that the execution process is performed according to Project procedures;
• Participate in periodic audits of EPCM compliance with procurement and contracting standards;
• Review EPCM change notices and claims for validity against the contract and advise on their acceptance or otherwise;
• Provide specialist advice in respect of emerging contractual issues;
• Participate in and at times lead contractual negotiations.

Intrinsic Qualities
• Requires the resolution of complex commercial and contractual issues under tight time pressure;
• Requires capability to deal with high-pressure commercial and contractual negotiations and obtain win-win outcomes
• The role requires a deep understanding of the EPCM and mining contracts and scope of services.

Qualifications & Experience
• A first degree in law, commerce or engineering is preferred, but not essential if a second degree or diploma is held in a commercial discipline such as an MBA
• Construction claims management; Construction contract administration; Project management fundamentals; Advanced negotiation; contract law; construction law; financial and quantitative analysis; contract drafting
• The incumbent is expected to demonstrate prior experience in at least some of the areas below. The balance of experience is expected to be acquired in performing the role
• Competent with ERP systems, especially SAP
• Practical experience in contract administration in mega projects
