A large International Construction/Materials Supply company operating throughout South Africa, Africa is looking for suitably qualified Branch Manager with a sound knowledge of Roads/Bitumen Binders/Asphalt and who is prepared to travel between the plant and sites looking after the Branch and operations.

Position: Branch Manager

Branch: Cape Town (Epping)

Qualification:

Engineering qualification (either Civil; Mechanical; Industrial; Electrical) and ideally a business management course and /or experience in an Engineering/Manufacturing environment relevant to construction materials production.

Experience:

A business minded person/manager who is an engineer with an analytical mind, however must have been in manufacturing or engineering management related to construction of roads as opposed to functioning as an engineer only.

• Having done some business course, or having had exposure to finance – i.e. P&L; costs; budgets; cost of manufacturing etc.
• Must have hands on management experience (managing line managers etc.)
• Knowledge of manufacturing in an engineering environment/construction materials production.
• Previous exposure in a road construction environment advantageous.

Reports to:

General Manager – Operations

Reporting Staff

Line managers (Production; Safety; Administration; Workshop; Junior Ops manager; Logistics; Sales)

Responsibilities:
• Ensuring that branch meets its obligations ito volumes, productivity & profitability
• Ensuring max use of assets (fleet; equipment) and effective cash flow
• Tenders & Quotes
• Ensuring that company policies and procedures are carried out (operational, safety etc)
• Management of multi-disciplinary team of line managers (Administration; Production; Workshop; Junior Ops; Logistics) to general staff in a unionised environment
• Building & maintaining customer relationships
• Identification & management of risks (including financial, products, safety etc)
• Ensuring development of staff

• Leadership skills – provide direction for line managers
