Our client is a leader in education. They are looking for an experienced Contracts Specialist to provide business partnering and support to the various departments. The successful candidate will have a legal qualification as well as experience within Commercial Law, Company secretarial/company advisory, Regulatory Law or Intellectual Property Law.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Legal Diploma, LLB Degree or equivalent (should not be an admitted attorney) 
  • Experience with/in the following areas will be advantageous: Commercial Law, Company secretarial/company advisory, Regulatory Law and Intellectual Property Law 
  • Experience in a publishing or education environment – Advantageous 
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) 
  • High level of competence in Microsoft Suite programs
  • Commercially Minded 
  • Leadership- growth potential and Self-Motivated
  • Detail Orientated
  • Must have a passport and be willing to travel regionally 
  • Confidentiality and high ethical standards are integral qualities

Duties and Responsibilities:

Legal:

  • Overseeing contract management
  • Drafting and amending contracts
  • Preparing contracts from templates
  • Providing a “business partner” role to various departments and different countries in the region
  • Managing firms of attorneys – following up, ensuring instructions complied with, etc.
  • Providing a link with global legal centers such as the trademarks and rights teams

Company Secretarial:

  • Preparing board packs
  • Finalising and circulating minutes of meetings
  • Compiling/updating legal reports
  • Managing external company secretaries – statutory updates, notifications filings, etc.
  • Monitoring governance changes
  • Liaising with global company secretarial team and updating as necessary           
  • All of the above relate to all companies in the region

Compliance:

  • Managing business partner process & database
  • Managing compliance training schedule
  • Preparing and presenting compliance training
  • Liaising with departments on compliance training needs
  • Monitoring and advising business on changes in law/regulation; preparing initial drafts of public comments to such changes where necessary
  • All of the above relate to all companies in the region

Admin:

  • Driving implementation of new processes and systems.
