Business Unit Overview
The Medical Assistance Platform provides medical assistance and support to our clients and their members / insured entities on a global basis. This includes direct contact with the members, clients, colleagues, relatives and medical providers to perform an appropriate risk assessment and providing the necessary medical support, including but not limited to appropriate medical advice, referrals, medical monitoring and medical evacuations and repatriations.
The Response Centre provides Work Health Services, which are particular assistance services, including Standard Topside Medical Support, Telemedicine, Occupational Health, Industrial Medicine and Emergency Medicine within highly regulated environments such as offshore, commercial maritime and aviation. The Response Centre also provides expertise in workplace injury and illness case management and the determination of a patient’s fitness to stay at work or return to work in line with our clients’ work place health related regulations and/or HSE standards.
Brief description of the primary purpose of this position
To be responsible for and provide clear leadership in the delivery of professional and effective medical assistance and/or Work Health services for clients to the highest standards of excellence in conjunction with the Medical Snr Coordinating Doctors, Directors and Nurses.

Required Work Experience
Min 5 years post graduate experience preferred as per Group Standard
Min 1 year private sector working experience in Emergency Department and or General/Family Practice
Required Qualifications
MBChB
HPCSA Registration
Post graduate qualification and/or experience in Occupational Health, Emergency Medicine, Travel/Tropical Medicine, Family Medicine
Short course Advanced Life Support and Aviation medicine training advantageous
Skills / Knowledge
Able to work under pressure and deliver results to deadlines
Be independent and firm, at same time a team player
Good interpersonal skills to work in the team – with service-focus mentality
Understanding of the Jones Act
Knowledge / experience within the commercial maritime industry (preferred)
Well traveled with Africa knowledge and a global geographical awareness
Required Languages
Excellent written and spoken English
European languages would be an advantage
