Coordinating Nurse (Portuguese (read, write and speak)
A leading medical services company operating worldwide is currently looking for a Coordinating Nurse.
To be responsible for and provide clear leadership in the delivery of professional and effective medical assistance services and/or WorkHealth services for clients to the highest standards of excellence in conjunction with the Medical Directors, Nurse Manager and Doctors

Key performance areas

• The patient from a maritime vessel) including assessment of the necessity and the patient risks associated with the mode of transport plus the distance from the medical facility.
• Liaise with Assistance Centre medical teams to support their coordination of medical transport as necessary.
• Primary management of all Workhealth Services cases including Commercial Maritime and limited Topside Support cases where deemed appropriate by the Nurse Manager on a first call basis whenever required as well as managing and monitoring of ongoing Maritime and Topside Support cases.

MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION
• Consistently maintain the Medical Transportation Standards (MTS) in expediting all medical transportations.
• Responsibility for the assessment of medical and logistical aspects of evacuations and repatriations in conjunction with the Nurse Manager and Coordinating Doctors., including the assessment of the necessity of an evacuation and the means by which it should take place. I.e. air-ambulance /commercial carrier / seated / stretcher / escort type / medical equipment etc. where required
• Liaise with medical departments of various airlines for passenger medical clearance as indicated.
• Act as a medical escort when required for appropriate medical cases.
• Determine most appropriate Medical escort personnel for the specific case as appropriate in conjunction with the Nurse Manager and Coordinator Doctors.

GLOBAL ASSISTANCE NETWORK (GAN) AND REFERRALS
• Responsibility for medical referrals such that patients are referred to appropriate levels of care and the appropriate medical provider is selected.
• Collation of new information on medical providers and facilities encountered and transfer of this information to the Global Assistance Network (GAN) department with medical comment for further investigation.

CASE ESCALATION
• Escalation as per protocol to the:
o Medical Director of the Assistance centre
o Nurse Manager
o Senior Medical Advisor Response Centre
o Regional Medical Director
o Regional Occupational Health Medical Director
o Corporate Assistance Department (CAD), and/or
o Occupational Health Specialist Group


Education, Training and Experience
• At least 3 years post education working experience
• Trauma / ICU exposure
• Experience in Occupational Health, Work Place Health, or Maritime medical assistance preferred
• Grade 12
• Registered Nurse
• SANC
• Able to work under pressure and deliver results to deadlines
• Be independent and firm, at same time a team player
• Good interpersonal skills to work in the team – with service-focus mentality
• Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA and IADC guidelines
• Understanding of the Jones act
• Knowledge / experience within the commercial maritime industry (preferred)
• Geographical awareness and cultural sensitivity
