Introduction:
The primary purpose of the role is to support the growth and development of existing and new Foods businesses in Africa. The position will involve the following functions:

  1. Planning and execution of CAPEX projects in South Africa and in most parts of Africa;
  2. Set up maintenance plans for the facilities of the company.

The position will report directly to the Director Technical and R&D.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Electrical or mechanical engineer degree with additional education in food processing;
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in factory engineering;
  • Significant experience in building new food factories outside South Africa;
  • Significant experience in sub-Saharan Africa.

  • Planning and execution of CAPEX projects;
  • Maintenance of the new facilities.

DESCRIPTION OF TASKS:

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Planning and execution of CAPEX projects in South Africa and in most parts of Africa.

INPUT / TASKS:

  • Plan capex projects: make sure timing and costs are planned realistically;
  • Prepare group capex budget for the centre;
  • Recruit and build necessary teams to execute projects;
  • Regular follow up and supervision of projects on site;
  • Execution of technical CAPEX projects;
  • Build and lead the technical team which executes CAPEX projects;
  • Identify competitive equipment suppliers;
  • Implement TPM in the new sites;
  • Apply TPM principles in all CAPEX projects.

OUTPUT / STANDARDS / EXPECTED RESULTS:

  • Timely execution of CAPEX projects;
  • Regular reporting to Technical director;
  • Compliance to internal and external regulations;
  • Consistent compliance with QMS, EMS, and Security.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

  • Maintenance of the factory assets of the client.

INPUT / TASKS:

  • Ensure execution of proper maintenance of equipment and building facilities, and building upgrading & extension projects. 
  • Prepare group maintenance budget. 
  • Manage the corporate maintenance budget.

OUTPUT / STANDARDS / EXPECTED RESULTS:

  • Well Maintained assets.
  • Consistent maintenance programme and facilities upgrading projects successfully completed in time and with quality standard. 
  • Consistent compliance with QMS, FSMS, EMS, 5S and Security.
