Cost Accountant

Area: Kempton Park

Package: Negotiable up to R475000 CTC P/A

Purpose of the position:
As cost accountant the candidate is accountable for the ongoing analysis of process constraints, target costing projects, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities. The candidate must also construct and monitor those cost-effective data accumulation systems needed to provide an appropriate level of costing information to management.

Duties:
• Data Collection
o Construct data accumulation systems for a cost accounting system.
o Create and review the controls needed for data accumulation and reporting systems.
• Inventory
o Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts.
o Investigate cycle counting variances and resolve issues.
o Update standard costs in the bill of materials.
o Review standard and actual costs for inaccuracies.
o Validate the cost of goods sold as part of the month-end close.
o Accumulate and apply overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principles.
• Analysis
o Conduct ongoing process constraint analyses.
o Report on breakeven points by products, work centers, and factories.
o Report on margins by product and division.
o Report on periodic variances and their causes, focusing in particular on spending variances.
o Analyze capital budgeting requests.
o Perform cost accumulation tasks as a member of the target costing group.

Knowledge and Skills
• The candidate Cost Accountant should have the following:
o Bachelor degree in Finance or Accounting.
o Three to five year working experience.
o SAP Business 1 experience significant advantage
o Excellent analysis skills, and the ability to collaborate with a multi-department team.
o Experience with manipulating large databases would be an advantage but an above average facility for using Excel will be essential.
o South African Citizen
o Fluent in Afrikaans and English (read, write and speak)
o Background in Manufacturing industry would be an advantage
