Our client is looking a Temporary Counsellor / Social Worker from 2 January 2018 - 31 March 2018 (Maternity cover)
Requirements:
- Must be a qualified and registered Social Worker
- At least 1 years of work experience
- Must have drivers license and own transport
- Excellent communication skills
- Candidate must be fully fluent in XHOSA and ENGLISH
- Able to build trust and have high levels of integrity
Duties:
- Case management involving various issues such as child neglect, physical abuse, domestic violence, substance use, ARV non-adherence, financial hardship, food insecurity, etc.
- Counsel clients in order to assist them and support them with above-mentioned hardships while promoting self-empowerment, decision-making, and personal growth.
- Collect information about clients through meetings, interviews, home visits, home assessments, observations or tests
- Participate in case review meetings and multi/inter-disciplinary team meetings as a contributing member
- Meet with walk-in clients and refer internally or externally depending on clients needs
- Refer clients, as needed, to internal and external resources for needs that involve clinics, social services, grants, legal services, counseling, schools, etc.
- Act as a liaison, coordinator, and advocate for clients for all internal and external referrals
- Represent the organization if/when meeting with external stakeholders and visitors
- Plan, organize and lead structured programs of counseling, work, study, recreation or social activities for clients
- When necessary, assist in supporting nurses' caseload
- Fill out and maintain client-related paperwork including all company forms and files
- Prepare all reports as assigned and required
- Maintain confidentiality of all client records and information
- Attend all required meetings and trainings
- Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the job description
