Our client in the Cyber Defence Industry has a vacancy for a Cyber Defence Specialist / Software Developer. They perform R&D, knowledge applications, technological innovation required for modelling, developing, testing and evaluating systems for the Department of Defence and Cybersecurity environments. They are also involved in cyber security operations, cyber security, information infrastructure and complex adaptive systems research.

Requirements:
• A minimum of a MSc (Hons) (Computer Science), M Eng (Computer or Electronic Engineering) or equivalent.
• Experience in software systems development and integration.
• Must be willing to pursue Phd studies.
• Advanced knowledge of Computer Security, Networks and Operating Systems.
• Advanced Knowledge on Systems Development, Modelling and System Architectures,
• Analytical skills.
• SA citizenship is necessary as a security clearance is required for this position.
• Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP) or other equivalents.
• Certified Information System Security Auditor (CISSA) or other equivalents.
• Association with professional bodies.

Responsibilities:
• Cyber Defence and Information Security Research.
• Design, specification and development of systems, including software systems.
• Information Warfare, Command and Control, Communications, Information Intelligence, Infrastructure, Reconnaissance and Surveillance focused research.
• Simulation and functional analysis of network systems and other systems or subsystems.
• Design and execution of field experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and client feedback.

The ideal person would be an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual. He/she would have to take ownership of a project and take initiative in the position. He/she would have the ability to make decisions, meet deadlines and have good writing skills. Communication skills, mainly fluency in English, are important, as he/she will be expected to interact and liaise with clients and staff members on a daily basis. An ability to work well under pressure as well as to work as part of a team is essential.
