A large Online Marketing company based in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg has a job opportunity for a Data Scientist / Marketing Data Analyst to be responsible for extracting meaning from the data within their customer base and assisting in developing valuable marketing intelligence, decision support algorithms and optimizing interventions. Extensive SQL knowledge is required.

Minimum requirements:

Degree in Statistics, Economics, Applied Mathematics or similar (Computer Science or Engineering)
Understanding of statistics & mathematical modelling
Practical ability to visualize data, communicate the data, and utilize it effectively in a marketing context
High level of computer literacy (advanced MS-Excel and SQL)
Practical experience with data mining
Practical experience building algorithms
The ability to distil problem definitions, models and constraints from informal business requirements; and to deal with ambiguity, competing objectives and incomplete variables
Ability to simplify complex algorithms to ensure understanding of users
