Job Title: Data Analyst

The Data Analyst will be required to manage and analyse multiple data sets (primarily: Retail Sales Data, Pricing, Promotional Frequency and In-Store Data) to find trends, insights and opportunities that are actionable for Sales and Marketing teams. The role will require being involved in the development and delivery of monthly and adhoc reports and presentations to key stakeholders and clients. 

CORE PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • Pricing and promotional data is increasingly becoming a strategic decision making tool for all FMCG companies. The Companies Silo department sit at the forefront of this exciting space
  • The role of the Data Analyst is to develop reporting tools and presentations for our FMCG clients to assist in their strategic decision making process around promotional and in store activity with their brands

DIMENSIONS OF THE JOB

Reporting

  • Look for methods to improve analytical reports and presentations
  • Assess current on potentially new data sources
  • Look for ways to improve the process of report generation
  • Provide timely, accurate and reliable reports to FMCG clients and Retail
  • Check Accuracy of reports and data

Analysis

  • Interrogate multiple data sources to find trends, insights and opportunities to highlight to clients
  • Look for opportunities to automate and speed up the generation of charts and tables with Silo Software
  • Presentation
  • Be involved in the development and delivery of presentation to client

NATURE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB

Promotional Pricing information is core to the Retail Software that the company develops for major clients within the group. The analytical reports that are created for decision-making by our Retail clients are essential to ensuring their prices are competitive. Data accuracy is key. Further, this is a space that is relatively new and unexplored by competitor Data companies. We need to move fast to develop reporting structures and models that ensure we are first to market and front of mind to all clients for promotional and pricing analysis.

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

Knowledge:

  • Strong quantitative ability in statistics
  • Working knowledge of SQL Databases having experience writing SQL queries would be advantageous
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel / pivot tables / Data analysis solutions
  • Good Understanding of big data manipulation methodology
  • Ability to combine data from multiple sources to look for synergies and insights
  • Knowledge of the FMCG and Retail sector and data
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint knowledge

Experience:

  • 3+ years’ experience in a commercial FMCG and Retail environment
  • Experience with statistical analysis tools preferred
  • Strong reporting and data analysis experience
