Purpose of Job An exciting new department has been established to ensure that the business deals effectively with data and improve the processes involved in managing it.

Data collection, collation, evaluation, integrity checking, validation and management from LC and various other sources e.g. surveys, systems, etc. This data is to be used to proactively keep the business informed of the trends and root causes in order to improve the business and client perceptions to mitigate any risks and improve persistency levels.

The Data Quality Analyst (DQA) primarily serves as liaison between the end users and data project team to define data definition and data quality business rules, as well as conduct technical data quality profiling of datasets. The DQA is an expert in understanding data quality objectives, questions, and problems, and at obtaining data, profiling it, assessing its quality and presenting data quality metrics and findings back to stakeholders. This personshould also be able to advise on approaches and strategies to address data quality deficiencies retrospectively as well as proactively. The analyst understands the tools and techniques used to profile and assess data quality that range from using traditional basic queries tools, as well as more sophisticated data quality assessment tools.

Job Objectives
Identify areas where the company needs to improve in efficiency and process automation
Come up with records of the management policies and processes
Initiate and maintain processes of automated data
Develop and support various reporting processes
Monitor and audit the quality of data
Identify, evaluate and implement services and tools from external sources to support validation of data and cleansing.
Work with both internal and external clients to adequately understand data content
Create dashboards, graphs and visualizations on data
Prepare reports for both internal and external audiences using various business analytics reporting tools
Sign-off user acceptance of system and data changes
Process change recommendations
Data quality assessment and reporting
Defining business and data transformation rules
Provide adequate feedback to the department head and business regarding findings
Identify, compare, and resolve data quality problems.
Evaluate large dataset for quality and accuracy.
Determine business impact level for data quality issues.
Work with Programmers to correct data quality errors.
Determine root cause for data quality errors and make recommendations for long-term solutions.
Meet tight deadlines in a pressurised environment

Maintain a record of original data and corrected data.
Ensure adherence to data quality standards.
Resolve all internal data exceptions in timely and accurate manner.
Analyse, query and manipulate data according to defined business rules and procedures.


Key requirements
Qualifications Matric with Maths or equivalent
Proficient Excel skills an advantage

Experience At least 4 - 6 years data quality experience
Proven ability to manage multiple, concurrent cases
Basic business analysis, accounting principles and system testing functions.
