Our Client requires the services of a Data Scientist in their Technology Department. The Data Scientist will be responsible for the analysis of data, identification of data patterns, developing and reviewing data processing, mathematical and statistical processes, develop machine learning algorithms, build algorithms for complex calculations, from a wide spectrum of fields, including but not limited to engineering, communications, linear algebra, statistics, calculus and geometry. Timeous, transparent and rigorous reporting will form part of all activities. Productization of Data Science research will be paramount.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Participate in technical, engineering and business requirements analysis and documentation
• Build processes around imperfections in data
• Research and implement data science and machine learning models across a spectrum of scale and complexity
• Implementation, documentation and utilization of various data science and business intelligence frameworks and tools
• Develop data-centric analysis for and reporting on engineering, mathematical, statistical and other processes, algorithms and calculations
• Explain, communicate and decipher research and modelling
• Be eager to learn and share knowledge
• Perform tasks according to requirements from internal and external parties
• Escalate tasks where tasks deviate from project plan
• Attend to relevant tickets and requests in a timely manner
• Regular reviews of existing policies, procedures, processes and project documentation
• Assist with relevant support
• Attend meetings with technical, engineering, business and other stakeholders
• Update deployment, task and project documentation
• Adhere to standard operating procedures and standards and assist with adaptation of these where relevant
• Preparation of documentation: including but not limited to training material, deployment plans, requirements, SOP’s, etc.
• Explore and stay up date to with relevant data scientific frameworks, best practices and algorithms

Experience, qualifications and competency requirements:
• Minimum 3 year tertiary degree (Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Data Science)
• Minimum 4 years working experience in related industry (Big Data, IoT, Telemetry, etc.)
• Additional certification within the Data Science discipline is advantageous, but not required
• Demonstrable exposure and work experience with Data Science technologies:
• Python, Jupyter, R (at least one of these for minimum of +1 year experience)
• Java, C, C++, C# (at least one of these for minimum of +2 year experience)
• SQL, MS-SQL, Oracle SQL, other SQL (at least one of these for minimum of +2 year experience)
• Kubernetes, Docker
• AWS, Google Cloud, Azure
• Advanced Techniques & Modelling
• Experience with data engineering tasks
• Experience with Data Science processes and modelling
• Comparative understanding of latest Data Science algorithms, approaches and methods
• Comparative understanding of typical statistical algorithms, approaches and methods
• Proven track record of delivering analytical and/or data science projects
• Good communication skills
