Dean – Academic Support and Development is required for a Private Educational Academic Industry based in Sandton. R900K p.a. ctc

Requirements
• Doctoral Degree / PhD (NQF Level 10) preferably in Education is ideal, but a Master’s degree is the minimum requirement.
• At least 10 years of experience in an educational environment (preferably higher education) in a role that is directly related to teaching and learning – preferably with at least 5 years’ experience at a senior level – preferably managerial

Key Performance
• Direct managerial responsibility for the Head Librarian (DL), the LMS Academic Team (DL, CU and CL), the R&D Manager (DL) and in future a T&L Manager (DL or DU).
• Take overall responsibility for the academic development of the CAT Academic team, in terms of succession planning, Contributes to the performance reviews of academics within CAT in accordance with policies and procedures and provides development support where needed.
• Identifies critical skills essential for the quality of service delivery and takes responsibility in the area of academic quality for providing opportunities for the further development of such skills as and when appropriate.
• Monitors the approval of Lecturers by the faculties to ensure that they meet regulatory requirements,
• Manages and oversees the delivery of educational qualifications such as the Postgraduate Diploma in Higher Education specifically directed at the improvement of IIE lecturing staff.
• The Dean: Academic Support and Development is part of the IIE senior management team and is the Academic Head of The IIE.
• To provide academic leadership to The Independent Institute of Education and to function as the Institute’s Academic Head.
• To lead, manage and develop the quality of the academic delivery of the Central Academic Team (CAT) of The Independent Institute of Education.
• To lead and support the development and implementation of strategies to promote effective teaching and learning across The Independent Institute of Education.
• To lead and manage quality assurance audits particularly in the area of teaching and learning and academic quality.
• To lead and manage the teams and people associated with academic support and development – the IIE Learn Academic Team, The Research & Development (R&D)
• Team, the Head Librarian and the Teaching & and the CAT to develop and implement the overall academic strategy.
• To ensure academic compliance with policy and procedure of The IIE and to contribute to the development of both.
• To lead and manage the development of curriculum and assessment standards and competence across The IIE.
