contract appointment: 5 years
Inherent requirements:
LLB or other appropriate legal qualification.
Five (5) years’ experience in management
Five (5) years’ relevant experience (excluding the period of clerkship - “articles”)
Admission as an Attorney.

Duties and responsibilities:
Manage and implement processes to ensure compliance by the University with all statutory requirements.
Review, update and maintain the list of Acts of Parliament and their related Regulations that govern University activities.
Communicate all statutory requirements (as well as all amendments thereto) to affected Heads of Departments and other structures in the University, ensure and monitor compliance therewith.
Provide legal services and advice to managers within the University.
In consultation with the Registrar, instruct the University’ attorneys, to draft contracts and to institute and/or defend legal action in order to protect the University’s interests.
Implement and maintain the records of the University, by creating and operating a comprehensive data base of all University contracts. This includes monitoring the implementation of the provisions of the contracts in so far as it relates to renewals and expiry dates of such contracts.
Ensure that application forms for admission and registration are consistent with the Statute and Rules of the University and form a fair contract between the University and the student.
Ensure marketing campaigns are consistent with the University website information and all relevant institutional rules, faculty rules, regulations, etc.
Ensure that student disciplinary procedures and processes are fair and just and implemented consistently at the University.
