Jacques Hau, a leading clothing manufacturer is seeking to employ an experienced and technically proficient Designer within the Ladies & Girls clothing environment.

ROLE EXPECTATIONS:
• Have a good knowledge and understanding of garment construction and applying this when you design
• CAD of garments, manipulation of sample designs and artworks in order to be commercially and financially viable
• Have a good understanding of the design programmes required to design effectively:
- Corel Draw
- Photoshop
- Illustrator
• Design commercial, CAD and graphic artwork for product required in line with customer's tastes and commercial requirements
• Develop designs and tech packs in conjunction with the graphic artist and customer’s designer for the buyers final sign off in reviews
• Organize, plan and prioritise work flow in conjunction with the in-house merchandiser and the critical path lead times
• Attend briefing sessions and workshops with buyers and the customer Design Centre

EXPERIENCE AND CHARACTERISTICS REQUIRED:
• 5 – 8 years’ experience in the clothing design environment required
• Garment construction & patternmaking knowledge essential
• Ability to work with tight deadlines and demonstrate a high degree of flexibility
• Ability to deal with changing priorities in a very fast paced environment
• Assist in development of graphics for briefings
• Ability to research fashion trends and stay current by visiting design portals, reviewing fashion magazines and catalogues and manuals to gather information.
• Excellent communication skills in order to gain a good understanding of the customer’s needs
• Build partnerships with buyers, designers and work well in a team
