MISSIONS
Within the framework of the department’s objectives and yearly action plans, his/her missions are:
• Controls the expenditure in relation with current budget.
• Ensures co-ordination and co-operation between Bagging and Despatch with other departments
• Ensures that client demand is always satisfied and carries out studies (new packaging) which will satisfy customers.
• Constantly aims at the best performance of the Bagging & Despatch section.
• Co-ordinates reliability tracking and improvement of equipment within the Bagging & Despatch section including conducting root cause analysis.
• Controls the outsourced activities within the bagging & despatch section (packing, palletising, cleaning and bag supply.)

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA
• Tracks and controls current budget for bagging and despatch section.
• Monitors despatch commitments in terms of volumes, deadlines, costs, product compliance and reports on any potential problems
• Ensures that any improvements are relevant and of good quality.
• Ensures prevention of theft.
• Ensures the dayshift industrial cleaning crew is efficiently used
• Monitors performance of mobile and fixed plant in order to minimise down time and follow up on equipment sent to the mobile garage.
• Ensures there is no demurrage charges due to late despatches on trains
• Tracks and puts systems in place to ensure TAT is on target
• Communicates daily with sales and logistics on daily despatches.
• Communicates daily with TFR on daily despatches
• Ensures raw materials, alternative fuels and coal are stacked in the correct areas.
• Manages cement paper and polystyrene bags stocks.
• Ensures pallet stock availability for the bagging plant.
• Ensures that ISO 9002 training is done in his/her section.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manages trials in section of new initiatives.
• Ensures that the bagging and despatch section is operated as a complete unit
• Reports progress on trials to the Production Manager.
• Co-ordinates monthly Despatch Report and submits to the Production Manager.
• Initiates root cause analysis as per the plant trigger criteria.
• Ensures that safety regulations are adhered to in section.
• Presents and recommends any ideas for consideration which will improve section efficiency.
• Ensures that expenditure in section is within budget constraints.
• Ensures all housekeeping initiatives are implemented and section is up to standard.
• Training and development of team.
• Performs any other reasonable tasks when requested by Supervisor.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND
• Grade 12 with an Engineering tertiary qualification
• 5-7 Years production supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment

TECHNICAL SKILLS
• In-depth knowledge of all products available
• Knowledge of general mechanical/electrical engineering, of industrial automation and automatic operating systems.
