Managing the successful delivery of our projects will require you to plan, coordinate and lead activities across the full delivery lifecycle. This will include working closely with the digital project team as well as liaising with key project stakeholders as required.

Our client has a brand with a strong online/digital footprint which means you’ll work on anything from improving or rebuilding key aspects of its website/mobile infrastructure, microsite lead generation projects, building and maintaining data analytics platforms. Day to day you’ll be working with our project management team at our agency office in Century City, Cape Town.  You’ll be responsible for overseeing and managing the other developers in your unit as well as improving, building and maintaining different applications and sites to a high standard.

You should be comfortable working under strategic guidance and within processes.

 Your responsibilities will be:

• Guide development efforts towards successful delivery.
• Maintain high standards of software and code integrity within the team by establishing best practices and habits.
• Provide the necessary technical leadership to your teammates via mentorship and coaching.
• Collaborate with the digital manager and digital team to plan, design, develop, test and launch projects.
• Improve/Refine existing technology infrastructure, code base and integrations.
• Assess opportunities for improvement and prepare necessary documentation of rationale to motivate for such improvements as well as highlight various problem areas to team members.
• Plan, Develope, Test and Deploy custom web and mobile applications on both server and client side.
• Troubleshoot, Testing for application bugs
• Writing programming code (Web, mobile and android/iPhone)
• Project managing the roll-out of a web or mobile development project.

 Minimum skills required:

• 4 – 10 years’ experience as a developer.
• At least 3 years’ experience in managing a team (or another developer) including their yearly performance reviews.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• At least 4+ years’ experience developing in:
  • MEAN stack
  • PHP
  • MySQL
  • HTML5
  • CSS

  • Ruby
  • Javascript
  • AJAX, jQuery
  • Cloud API environment
  • XML
• Excellent front and back end development capabilities
• Excellent debugging, and implementation skills

Other requirements:

• Understanding of open source projects like WordPress (architecture and plugins) etc.
• Good knowledge of relational databases, version control tools and of developing web services
• Experience in common third-party APIs (google, Facebook, other)
• Passion for creating and developing with the user in mind.
• Must be able to provide samples or examples of previous work.
