My client in the agricultural industry is requiring a Development Manager/Project Manager. The company is situated in the Umhlanga area and is a permanent position.

POSITION SUMMARY

To identify, develop and manage the delivery of a portfolio of land development projects that deliver the company's strategic objectives in support of land, investment and tourism, regeneration and economic development in the area of commercial, industrial and residential land use development.

To directly project manage the development of major and/or politically sensitive projects reporting the relevant Executives responsible for the project.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Interface with the relevant stakeholders and other relevant bodies on matters concerning the use and development of company's land interests
• Identify and promote project proposals that meet company's strategic objectives and gain approval for appropriate projects where applicable
• Define the development concept, project outputs, outcomes, and performance measures
• Negotiate with any other parties involved (government departments, local authorities, community organisations, commercial developers, etc.) where required to agree project scope and funding packages
• Manage 3rd parties, service providers etc.
• Ensure the plans are realistic in terms of cost, timeline and outputs, and meet our policy requirements, including maintaining relevant and accurate documentation and reporting requirements through working closely with the delivery team
• Negotiate the terms of the development agreement with the chosen partners, with legal support, ensuring that the company's requirements are met in terms of, quality, value, project outcomes, and performance measures
Develop an actionable development plan on to the project delivery team and continue to provide development input and advice as necessary to the Executives accountable for the implementation of the project.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• University Degree or Hon/Master in either engineering, Building Science (Construction Management) or Quantity Surveying
• Related PM qualification (Advantage)
• Registration with appropriate professional body / institute ( Advantage)

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:

• At least 7-10 years’ experience in within The Built environment
• Important to have led land or property development projects and must have the capability to move into senior leadership positions within the organisation
• Experience in development, implementation, successful execution of projects
• Important to have had exposure to and involvement in interface with government, communities and other stakeholders within development (both land and property) value chain
