Job Title: Diesel Mechanic
Location: Koffiefontein

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The incumbent will be responsible for maintenance and repairs of trackless mobile machinery and equipment in accordance with sound engineering practices and equipment specifications.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Investigate, diagnose and perform trade related maintenance and repairs to equipment machinery according to maintenance requirements.
Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health & Safety Act, manufacturing and Company standards.
Report defects and breakdowns on equipment and machinery to the foreman.
Identify spares requirements for vehicles.
Maintain and create job cards for maintenance records.
Communicate with clients and supervisors on maintenance activities performed and equipment handover.
Ensure personal and co-workers adherence and compliance to Security and Company SHE objectives
Work according to the Mine’s code of practice and report any observations of this not being done
Required to work shifts, overtime, standby and be available for call-outs should the need arise

Minimum Requirements:

Qualified Diesel mechanic with Trade Certificate through a recognized/accredited institution
Valid driver’s license EB (08)
5 years post trade test experience
Knowledge of electrical, electronic systems and hydraulics ideally from mining drilling and heavy duty earth moving machines will be an advantage – please indicate this experience/knowledge on your CV

Independent, self-motivate, proactive thinker with the ability to do own job planning
Sound written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills in English.

Preference will be given to suitable candidates from the designated groups in line with the Company’s Employment Equity Policy and Plan and internal candidates.
