Large multi-national in the Retail sector is looking for a Distribution Support Manager to grow their Logistics and Distribution divisions.

  • Accountable for achieving performance targets and standards as required by the Distribution department
  • Manage quality of  data capture of POD detail for WFS, Foreign and SAPO parcels
  • Maintain track and trace of all parcels in distribution
  • Control packaging utilisation, costs and maintain stock levels
  • Analyse conformance of SAPO, ISP and courier deliveries. Maintain and manage service levels with service providers
  • Monitor  daily pick-ups and furniture assessments by ISP’s and couriers
  • Maintain despatch methods and routing of parcels
  • Manage productivity of daily activity in the hubs
  • Daily, weekly & monthly reporting
  • Maintain business continuity

Efficient and effective management of finances

  • Maintain the delivery costs per parcel. Control cost centre budget and variable expenses ie stationery stock levels, telephone
  • Assist and ensure the completion of budgets by 31st July of each year for following
  • Continuously meet budget and profitability targets
  • Drive financial planning, forecasting and business management processes to maximize profitability
  • Monitor operational cost on an on-going basis
  • Update and manage labour forecasting
  • Manage overtime costs to remain within the budget

Customer service

  • Improve customer experience for SAPO, WFS and Foreign deliveries
  • Formulate procedures to improve communication of non-delivered parcels
  • Enhance the overall customer experience and customer expectations
  • Formulate and drive contingency plans
  • Improve and maintain the customer focus drive in resolution of queries

Health and safety management and control & security

  • Manage the compliance of the OSH Act regulations
  • Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols
  • Provide feedback to audit inspectors during and after audit and ensure appropriate remedial actions

Management of people

  • Document performance management meetings and identify staff for training needs
  • Ensure performance management on under achievers with visible and measurable  improvements on results
  • Mentor staff,  identify needs, develop and manage career growth plans
  • Ensure team have KPA’s which are assessed bi-annually
  • Identify exceptional high performers by factual data for annual achievement reward

Requirements

Qualifications & Accreditations

  • Grade 12
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in logistics will be advantageous 

Experience & Skills

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ distribution / logistics experience in a distribution, FMCG or courier environment
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of  distribution outbound and reverse logistics processes
  • MS Office with advance Excel skills
  • Competent data analytic skills
  • Experience in managing relationships with service providers
  • Experience in home delivery and/or retail environment will be an advantage
