JOB CONTEXT:
The Division Head Academic provides strategic leadership and administrative management of the implementation of
NITI’s academic strategy and policy at the Academic Division Faculty level, including fostering strategic change and development in coursework programs, teaching and learning and Trainees affairs. . He also facilitates, assesses and reports faculty progress against strategic goals and operational plans in teaching and learning, coursework, quality assurance and trainee affairs.


Basic Job Requirements & Accountabilities:
Description
Provides leadership, oversight and coordination of course profiles, coursework programs, teaching and learning and Trainee affairs.

Provides input in developing the long-range planning activities of the Academic Division, including the business plan, operating plan, workload forecasting; facilities planning, coordination, and safety, recruitment of faculty etc
Provides guidance and assistance to Principals in their responsibility to assess needs, plan, organize, control, motivate, and evaluate achievements of the Academic Division according to established goals and objectives.
Guides faculty in distance technology, active learning, and teaching methodologies so as to continually improve the educational programs.
Fosters and supports innovative change, for example in the effective use of technologies to support teaching, provision of short courses and development of new types of qualification/curriculum

Creates and supports academic collaborations with Schools and Universities, Technical colleges and across Faculties and Schools, for example, sharing coursework programs and teaching resources;

Ensures all staff under the Academic Training Unit adhere to all regulations and standards set forth by NITI
Develops budgetary projections to fulfil division goals and provides budget management consistent with policies and procedures. Implements controls over spending and procurement.
Establishes annual Division performance goals, objectives, and performance targets in collaboration with the Executive Director and monitors it on an ongoing fashion.
Assists faculty in developing Annual Development Plans which provide specific, measurable goals in each performance area
Conducts yearly performance evaluations of division faculty members consistent with processes established for the Department and as delegated by the Executive Director. Develops retention policies and motivational standards for the staff.

Provides recommendations on continued employment, promotion and tenure of faculty in a manner consistent with direction of the Executive Director
Nominates faculty for institutional and external awards.
Participates in the selection and training of instructional and administrative personnel for the Academic Training Division.
Facilitates the proper utilization of resources available to meet the needs of NITI. Assures proper maintenance of air conditioners, lighting, ventilation, safety conditions, sanitation , ensures optimum utilization of office space and classrooms , adequate availability of teaching materials (textbooks, furniture, supplies, and equipment), and availability of teaching staff
Participates in the planning and implementation of in-service training and recertification for teachers
Ensures that the academic materials meets the standards and requirements of the accrediting body and regulators. Oversees the delivery and effectiveness of teaching staff with the help of the Principal.

Oversees the administrative staffs that handle student complaints, requests and questions.

Establishes policies for student discipline in cases of cheating, plagiarism and other academic or personal violations.
Attends professional meetings to exchange ideas regarding academic training philosophy and keeps abreast with current developments in the academic profession.
Performs other related duties as required by the Training Operations Director and Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
BA or BS Degree; a MA or MS Degree is preferred. Specialization should be in one or more of the subjects taught in NITI curriculum. Graduate study in Education or School Administration is desirable
Ten (10) years of experience in teaching/administration, at least 5 of which should be in training administration. Experience in teaching English as a Second Language or administering a school in which English as a Second Language is taught is desirable
Thorough understanding of modern human resource development and industrial training philosophy and techniques
Demonstrated familiarity with, or experience in, Arab countries and culture; a rangeof cross-cultural experience and international development experience preferred.
