Purpose of the job
To develop broadband strategies, implementation plans and provide guidance to broadband services to respond to government service delivery challenges so that appropriate solutions can be created.

Key Responsibility Areas
Provide inputs into the development and oversee the implementation of the company’s broadband Strategies and operational plans that are aligned to the CTO Strategy to ensure development of broadband services for company’s clients. Implement and coordinate Innovation Strategy; procedures and methods to ensure adherence to company’s corporate policies & procedures. Accountable for strategic network planning for broadband access and core network as well as establishment of strategic network partnership and collaboration with local carriers, ISP (Internet Service providers) and VANS (Value Added Network Service providers). Manage resources (i.e. budget/finances, asset/equipment and staff) within the Unit in order to ensure the efficient operation of Unit. Develop the company’s network architecture to improve interoperability of government systems. Develop proof of concepts for service delivery solutions (external focus). Develop innovative solutions to address company’s solutions needs (internal focus). Develop solutions using the SEMP methodology and quality standards – compliance to corporate policies. Develop solutions to address e-government initiatives and promote m-government. Develop proposals to execute on Government programme of action and priorities. Manage relationships with company’s clients, GITOC, industry, academia and international collaboration with South African partners, i.e. SADC, BRICS to improve technology exchange and sharing. Knowledge and Innovation (LEADS 5%) - Ensure that resources are being kept abreast of the latest industry developments and ensure that appropriate technologies are used for knowledge management so as to ensure that innovation and improved productivity.

Qualifications and Experience
Master’s degree in Information Technology/Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering or PHD Degree in Electrical Engineering, MBA will be an added advantage, 10 years experience in Telecommunications company (mobile company), ICT field with leadership, general management, operational responsibly in a large corporate/public sector organisation, experience in general management as well as in the provisioning of large systems within the corporate and public sector
