Our client, based in Bryanston, is looking for a Divisional Operations Director.

Position: Divisional Operations Director
Division: Transport and Infrastructure
Location: Bryanston, Gauteng
Reporting Line: Divisional Managing Director
Salary: R 1 million – R 1.5 million

KEY ROLE:
The Division Operations Director is a Technical Director level appointment, responsible to work with the Transport & Infrastructure Division Africa Regional teams, and coordinate on behalf of Transport &Infrastructure division with the greater Africa and Global Group. The incumbent will deploy and enforce the best practices, procedures, and tools necessary to ensure consistency, quality, and maximum efficiency of the division, on project pursuit, tender and execution. In addition, this person will act as the primary operational interface for the Division and with other Divisions tender and project delivery initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with the Divisions regional offices and Group finance to design, implement and manage high quality and accurate tender and proposal price forecasting, planning and budgeting processes that are integrated with other planning processes employed within the Group. 
  • Partner with Division regional professional services leaders to identify opportunities for project process improvement. 
  • Ensure successful implementation of new procurement and project procedures through the Division.
  • Work closely with the Divisional MD, Divisional regional directors, the Division and Groups work winning and tender teams, business development and pursuit leaders on a day-to-day basis.
  • Ensure data, reports, and other internal intelligence tools are provided to stakeholders.
  • Build and evaluate project delivery forecasting results and trends on a project basis, to feed in to the Groups financial reporting.
  • Work with Group finance and the regions to ensure effective use and adoption of project cost, time tracking, capacity planning, and invoicing. 
  • Act as primary integration lead for the Division, with regards to planning and tracking of engineering deliverables, Division projects, off-shoring and job-sharing projects, as well as joint venture initiatives.
  • Responsible to implement, maintain and interface a project delivery platform for the Division, that will include project controls, with delivery teams and Group finance.
  • Support work winning, bid and proposal teams to set up pricing models, and support the project set up for execution.
  • Support planning and resourcing of projects, set up, engage project delivery staff as project work type and load develop.
  • Set up project delivery systems and report on project performance and health to Division Exco on Division projects.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, and a minimum of 10 years of experience in professional services operations or delivery management. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, managers, and employees, working effectively in a global team environment with shared responsibilities.
  • Experience with project system administration and knowledge of applications including engineering management, project controls and project information integration platforms.
  • Some travel required.
  • Professional registration in the Engineering profession (ECSA).
  • Knowledge and experience in project management processes, such as PMBOK.
  • Demonstrated track record of the implementation of cost, schedule, document and engineering design management systems.
