Education Officer
Job Purpose

To plan, coordinate and manage selected Mathematics, Science, Technology Education projects, events, activities and programmes at Sci-Bono and to improve attitudes to and awareness of science and technology of learners and the general public.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Research, develop, coordinate and manage implementation of in-reach programmes of the centre.
2. Develop and procure learner and teacher support materials to be used in the centre to educate, excite and promote the understanding of MSTE.
3. Oversee the management of the Laboratory and ensure its compliance with Laboratory Safety Standards.
4. Develop educational rationale for the development and procurement of exhibits.
5. Provide support for the review of exhibits.
6. Develop systems to mediate & manage the use of exhibits where necessary.
7. Coordinate the participation and activities at external expos.
8. Manage the development of the educational offering of the centre for visitors
9. Ensure relevance and high quality design, development and implementation of MSTE workshops and shows presented by the science centre.
10. Develop programme feedback and evaluation measures for future review and assessment of the Science Centre’s activities.
11. Conduct impact monitoring and evaluation on projects and programmes and analyse data for reporting
12. Manage, train and support science centre staff by providing leadership and counsel to foster personal development and an efficient, professional and optimally used science centre
13. Manage the in-reach programme budget in line with performance indicators to ensure responsible and accountable spending.
14. Compile and submit reports to the Science Centre Manager on a regular basis.
15. Manage and monitor the science communication Team Leaders
16. Conduct performance appraisals to team leaders and provide them with developmental feedback


Key Requirements:
• Graduate Science and Education qualification
• 3 years’ experience in maths, science or technology education
• 2 years’ experience in educational project management
• Management skills
• Facilitation, communication and presentation
• Computer proficiency
• MST policy and curriculum proficiency
• Valid driver’s licence
