A leading company involved in Electric Drives and Diesel Electric Power Systems has a position available for an Electric Drives and Power Electronics Service Engineer.
• Support, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair the existing locomotive propulsion systems
• Develop and perform testing and commissioning procedures for individual components as well as complete systems
• Provide technical expertise to prospective customers and conceive the preliminary system design based to fit the customer needs based on ATS capabilities
• Perform service calls as needed with support from the Engineering and Sales and Marketing departments
• Travel nationally and internationally as required to perform sales or service calls


Skill Set
Desired
• A B Sc. or B Eng. in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or equivalent technical field from an accredited university
• Applicants with a Technikon qualification (S1 to S5) and a strong background in electronics will be considered
• Self-driven and highly motivated individual with the ability to work in a fast-paced quickly-changing environment
• Ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics
• Ability to travel both nationally and internationally on short notice (up to 80%). As such the applicant must have a valid passport and driver’s license
• Ability to work with tools and lift loads up to 20kgs
Advantageous experience
• 3+ years of experience in the locomotive or marine industries
• 3+ years of experience with electric drives and electric machines
• French language skills
