ELECTRICAL CONSTRUCTION MANAGER (SUB-STATION) – NORTHERN CAPE (Preferably EE)

Our International Client is a leader in the Renewable Energy industry based in Cape Town. They have an opportunity for a ELECTRICAL CONSTRUCTION MANAGER to join their EPC Team in the Northern Cape on a Fix Term Contract of minimum 12 months.
MINIMUM REQUIRMENTS:
• Minimum tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering, specialising in High Voltage;
• 5 years’ Experience in Renewable Energy, especially Solar background is imperative;
• Experience in AutoCAD and highly proficient in MS Office.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Ability to manage multiple and varied tasks with enthusiasm and prioritising of workload with attention to detail;
• Computer literacy with good numeracy skill;
• A flexible attitude with respect to work assignments and new learning;
• Self-motivated with a willingness to accept responsibility and challenges;
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Duties & Responsibilities
• Planning and executing sub-station build and commissioning on site;
• Understanding and implementation of interconnection solutions accurately and timeously based on given information
• Implementing preliminary plant and utility grid simulation models to estimate, amongst others, the size of compensation equipment
• Establishing the technical base case including the specifications of the project relating to its interconnection works.
• Evaluating & reviewing technical documentation and contracts whilst establishing the technical requirements to be implemented in the interconnection solutions
• Work with Supply Chain Management on compilation and evaluation of RFP documents and supplier responses
• Executing due diligence and investigations to conclude on technology selections where relevant for interconnection works.
• Compiling, coordinating and managing the complete system design package for interconnection works which may be outsourced.
• Drafting and/or approving technical schedules for various contracts related to the interconnection works.
• Overseeing the detailed engineering design package / process for the interconnection works.
• Implementing all relevant detailed design information identified throughout the structuring phase that will be issued for construction
• Compiling Power Factory Dig Silent models to evaluate solutions for Grid Code Compliance
• Managing expectations and documentation during construction
• Engaging in on-site activities to monitor and ensure design expectations are implemented
• Supporting testing and commissioning activities
• Ensuring effective support of operations and maintenance to resolve matters identified within the projects for improving operational and functional systems.
