A leading firm of Consulting Engineers has a vacancy for a Electrical/Mechanical Technologist to be based in Johannesburg. Minimum Qualification Required: B-Tech in Electrical Engineering and B-Tech in Mechanical Engineering. Work Related Experience Required: Approx 3 - 4 years practical site and office experience in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. Personal Attributes: Good communication and interpersonal skills; Willing to travel throughout Africa and other continents Willing to be Resident Engineer for longer periods far away from Johannesburg; Willing to study to obtain higher education/Project Management levels; Duties and Responsibilities: Mechanical Good knowledge of the operation of an HVAC plant, inclusive of AHU’s, Chillers Pumps, Cooling towers, and principle control systems as well as Building Central Management Systems - BCMS; Good understanding of Industrial Boiler systems inclusive of various energy Inputs, such as Coal, HFO, Gas and Biomass with cost comparison in the operation of the plant; General understanding of the mechanical involvement in process plants. Electrical/Electronic Good knowledge of Solar power supply with Photovoltaic systems; Understanding of Stand-by power generation & UPS plants; Principle designs of cable reticulation system; Principle designs of Lighting layout, Lighting Distribution boards, Motor Control Centers (MCC’s) and Control systems; Layouts of LV/MV sub-stations; Know-how on Access Control systems, security camera installations, central control rooms.
