Site O&M Electrician
Our client is seeking a Site O&M Electrician for their site in De Aar with a NQF level 4, N4 Electrical Trade and at least 5 years experience in maintanace of electrical systems
Mission Statement
Solar PV Plant Operation and Maintenance Electrician:
The Site O&M Electrician will report to the O&M Manager (solid-line) and the Site Lead Engineer (dotted-line).
Site O&M Electrician, with the support of operation and maintenance team, is responsible for successful execution of site operation and maintenance activities on-time, within budget, as per Contract Agreement, with on- quality & safety framework of The company.
The Site O&M Electrician is accountable for the results of all electrical related tasks under his responsibility within the site Operation and Maintenance department.
He will be appointed to work at a particular, specified photovoltaic plant, however may be required to assist at other sites in the country from time to time.
He should be able to both manage and execute all aspects of electrical maintenance within a multidisciplinary environment.
He shall be responsible and active through all stages of the execution to ensure that all work is completed to the required standards and specifications.
He is responsible for supporting the Site Lead Engineer to ensure that the performance of the Solar Power plant remains at\exceeds the contractually agreed level.

Main Accountabilities
Plant Operation and Maintenance: Perform plant maintenance according to the maintenance schedule.
Monitor and check suitability and quality of equipment and generate status reports.
Maintain maintenance records and ensure maximum availability of photovoltaic system.
Plant Troubleshooting: Able to critically evaluate problems which may arise in the photovoltaic system, undertake a technical investigation, if required, provide and implement a technically sound solution to the problem(s).
Health & Safety: Adherence to safety standards such as Occupational Health and Safety Act and safety regulations. Support Site Lead Engineer in implementing and driving safe work practices, safety initiatives and recording and reporting on safety at the site.
Function as safety and quality representative for the site.
Environmental: Support Site Lead Engineer in the implementation of environmental systems.
Focus on continuous improvement in efficiency.
Performs Logistical function for solar plant site. This includes keeping stock record of all spare parts
Assists with all other Logistical functions necessary to have a well-functioning plant such as water supply, plumbing, lighting, rubbish removal, security monitoring etc.

Fluent English

Specific Skills -Electrical
Minimum NQF Level 4, N4 Electrical Trade
Must be trade-tested (Red Seal)
At least 5 years’ experience in the maintenance of electrical systems
Experience in the maintenance of low and medium voltage electrical networks, medium voltage switching and protection discrimination
Working knowledge and experience on MV cable fault location and repairs
Working knowledge and experience on DC systems up to a voltage of 1000 Volts and current of 1000 Ampere
Ability to read and interpret LV / MV schematics
Experience with maintenance of Rectifiers\Inverters, Transformers, UPS, Battery Chargers
Experience with the maintenance of cabling and cable support systems
Knowledge of local and international standards
Strong PLC programming skills and thorough knowledge of operator interfaces
Physically fit, able to install heavy machines such as inverters and transformers, lift at least 50kg
Be able to work in dry, dusty, high temperature conditions
Good knowledge of creating Incident reports, maintenance records, monthly reports and logistical databases based on spreadsheet templates
