A renowned Power Generation Company is looking for an Electrician based in the East Rand.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

? Cabling termination, numbering identification, wiring diagrams
? Colour coded wiring

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED
? Qualified Electrician – Minimum Matric or technical equivalent plus Trade Test
? PC Skills – Outlook, MS Word, Excel, MS Project
? Fault finding
? Use of Test Equipment (including High Voltage)

FUNDAMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

? Must be committed and self-motivated
? Must constantly demonstrate a “whatever it takes” attitude
? Must be able to read electrical circuit diagrams
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

? Minimum of 3 years Fossil Fuel Fired Power Plant or distribution experience
? Low, medium and high voltage work (including switchgear, power transformers and electrical boards)
? Motors, starters and batteries
? Be acquainted with Plant Safety and High Voltage regulations and Permit to Work system
? Fault finding
? Panel wiring

CORE FUNCTIONS:

? Establish & maintain a safe work environment
? Maintain the integrity of electrical apparatus throughout the entire Plant – “A” & “B” Stations, Diepsloot pumps and all other Plant and Auxiliaries
? Application of safety precautions to electrical apparatus
? Assist in developing, maintaining and updating of Plant records and drawings and building a user-friendly access system
? Understand commercial impact of potential projects and provide cost benefit analyses and feedback to teams
? Provide information and support for Capital Expenditure decision making process
? Maintenance of brushgear & exciter equipment
? Assist in developing and improving practices and procedures on an on-going basis in step with modern technology and experience gained
? Proactively analyse, diagnose and resolve Plant problems to minimise operational downtime or Plant disruption
? Carry out routine inspections of plant equipment and report any defects, dangerous acts or occurrences and take relevant action
? Actively participate in and encourage good housekeeping, teamwork and upholding of superior standards & general maintenance in your plant
? Actively participate in and contribute to the success of the company and its people by adopting and living the values and principles of the company
? Be flexible and willing to learn and assist in all aspects of operation & maintenance
? Be fully conversant with and adhere to general and Plant safety regulations and codes
? Develop an in-depth knowledge of all aspects of Power Plant operation and the generation of electricity
