Our client has a vacancy for an Electronic Technician in the Technology for Special Operations group. They provide specialised equipment, technology and do research for Special Ops clients. The equipment includes electronic and mechanical subsystems within weapons, observation, detection and explosives systems. The work done in these areas is usually highly confidential but may in certain instances also be commercially applied.

You will be responsible to wire and assemble electronics, build up small circuit boards, maintain and repair electronic and electrical equipment, maintenance of systems and sub-systems.

Qualifications, skills and experience:
• National Higher Certificate qualification (NQF 7/8).
• Qualified as Electronic Technician.
• Must have experience in Milspec soldering techniques, both discrete and surface mount components.
• Must have experience in Milspec harnessing and wiring.
• Managerial experience of an electronic lab.
• Auto electrician experience is an advantage.
• Mechanical skills such as drilling, cutting, filing and sanding.
• Computer literacy. (MS Windows, MS-Word, MS-Excel)
• Author of reports, acceptance test procedures, schematics, wiring diagrams and calibration instructions.
• Good numerical skills.
• Good problem solving experience.
• Ability to execute fault-finding, maintenance and repairs.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Workshop manager experience.
• Code 08 Driver’s license.
• Fully proficient in English.
• Security clearance is a requirement for this position. South African citizenship only.

Key responsibilities:
• Responsible for requirements analysis as well as design and specification of systems.
• Accountable for the integration of lower level components into systems.
• Required to verify and test EW systems.
• Accountable for the simulation and functional analysis of systems and subsystems.
• Design and execution of field experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and client feedback.
