A Leading International Manufacturing Company based in Howick (KZN) is looking for an ER Officer.

Effective Dispute Resolution

Effective Dispute Resolution
3.1.2 Through effective dispute resolution, involving employees and management, assist the company to
avoid expensive litigation, strikes and other business disruptions.
3.1.3 The ability to settle labor-management disputes through mediation and resolution, rather than costly
court battles.
3.1.4 Strive to develop and maintain a positive relationship between the management and employees.
3.1.5 Managing the effective implementation of grievance procedures and the disciplinary code
3.1.6 Hear grievances from employees and ensure that they are resolved.
Job Requirements
4.1 Education
• Diploma or Degree in HR / Labour Relations
• Advanced Microsoft Office Suite
4.2 Competencies / Skills
• Skills in negotiation, mediation and arbitration
• Excellent verbal and written communications and strong interpersonal communications
• An understanding of specific labor relations needs and challenges related to the company’s
business strategy
• Strength in situation leadership, ethics, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and cultural
competency
• A track record of delivery in the areas of planning and delivering of employee relations initiatives
and ability to lead, motivate and gain the commitment of others in achieving an employee and
industrial relations focus responsive to contemporary issues,
• Well-developed analytical skills and demonstrated ability to make complex judgement and
initiatives in regard to workforce and ER/IR services and planning.
• Ability to effectively train and develop employees and line managers to improve workforce
capability
• Demonstrable experience of managing highly contentious people issues effectively together with
strong inter-personal and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships and liaise, advise and negotiate effectively
with key stakeholders including management, staff and external agencies.
• Ability and demonstrated experience, or capacity, in representing organisations in legal and
industrial relations hearings.
• Solid negotiation skills
• Integrity, confidentiality, and the ability to work with a diverse group of people.
