Package
• 3 YEAR FAMILY or SINGLE CONTRACTS OFFERED
• Generous Tax free basic salary. Offered according to experience.
• Basic salary range from: 5600 QAR up to 10250 QAR per month. Salaries are paid in QAR. 10250 QAR is +/- 39000 (South-African Rand), 2600 EUR, 2300 GBP, 3700 CAD.
• Free fully furnished accommodation provided.
• Transport allowance of 1250 QAR per month added to your basic salary.
• Free "round trip" (to and from home country) flight tickets on joining, annual leave, and on repatriation. For those with family contract offered this will be also be applicable for your family (wife and up to 3 children up to 18 years old).

2 year Diploma in Endoscopy Technology.

2 Years recent experience as an Endoscopy Technician.

Job Specification
Position Summary:
The Endoscopy/GI Technician is a member of a multi-disciplinary team organized to provide endoscopy care and services to patients. The technician is directly accountable to the Senior Consultant in the Gastroenterology section of Medicine.

The post holder must have specialized technical knowledge of endoscopy care, including clinical procedures medical terminology, and biomedical equipment for endoscopy procedures. The post holder must be able to perform tasks within clearly defined policy, procedure, and guidelines with direction from team members, including nurses and physicians.

Principal Accountabilities:
• Possesses specialized clinical knowledge about endoscopy; gastroscopy, colonscopy, and ERCP.
• Maintains equipment for clinical procedures
• Ensures proper working of endoscopy units prior to use on a daily basis
• Runs leak tests, scopy channel cleaning, light source-air-water-suction checking before and after each procedure
• Maintains knowledge about handling and care of clinical instruments
• Applies aseptic techniques in daily work assignments
• Switches on the unit and checks for air-water-suction for confirmation

• Cleans, sterilizes, and performs a leak test after every procedure
• Maintains records for instruments provided in the department
• Informs biomedical engineering of inoperable equipment
• Demonstrates knowledge of endoscopy procedures and equipment (i.e., EGD, colonscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopies, ERCP, EUS, Liver Biopsies, Bronchoscopies, and Peg Tube placements)
• Demonstrates knowledge of communication skills sufficient to report patient activities and deviations from normal; appropriately interacts with patients and families.
• Demonstrates knowledge of patient safety factors
• Performs quality patient care activities
• Maintains the patient appointment system; gives proper guidance and education to the patient about the procedure, preparation for the procedure, place, date, and time of the procedure
• Cooperates with support services to facilitate the timely transport and arrival patients at off-unit activities
• Informs the physician about the appointment
• Receives the patient
• Explains the procedure to the patient
• Advises and assists patients in the proper handling of valuables and belongings during care and assists in gathering belongings during transfer or discharge.
• Obtains informed consent from the patient
• Positions the patient
• Applies and removes restraints as instructed within policy
• Assists in all GI procedures (gastroscopy, colonscopy, ERCP, EUS, etc.), including injection, biopsy, urease test, polypectomy snaring, cauterization, and checking vitals during the procedures
• Confirms the patient is stable
• Prepares the procedure report as per the doctor’s note; performs computer entry as required
• Provides patients guidance on when and where to collect the report
• Actively communicates with physicians regarding patient scheduling and care
• Collaborates in a multidisciplinary approach with nursing and others to promote delivery of patient care; Uses effective communication skills in working with health care team, patients and families.

• Performs clerical duties related to clinical care as delegated by RN such as (but not limited to): answering the phones, completing requisitions, following up on doctors orders by transcribing medications on medication sheet, scheduling tests and appointments, filing reports, ordering supplies and equipment, managing patients medical records, etc.
